CounterSpy is a 2.5D side-scroller action game developed by Dynamighty, inspired by 60s style spy movies. The game is set in the Cold War era, where the player takes control of a spy, infiltrating rival countries' military bases to prevent the enemy from launching nuclear missiles.
The game offers a unique gameplay experience as players can target their weapons in a three-dimensional space, making it more challenging to dodge enemy attacks. The game's main objective is to avoid getting detected as it affects the DEFCON status of the country the player is in; getting detected too often will launch nuclear weaponry. However, players can abort the launch if they make it in time, resulting in the completion of the level.
